Quick Start

Configure a workspace and receive your first customer message.

This guide takes a new GChat workspace from account creation to the first operator reply.

1. Sign In or Create an Account

Open GChat and sign in with your email and password. If two-factor authentication is enabled, enter the six-digit code from your authenticator app.

New accounts may require email verification or activation before the workspace becomes available.

2. Create or Select an Organization

An organization keeps its integrations, conversations, staff, settings, and automation separate from other workspaces.

If this is your first organization, enter its name during onboarding. To switch later, open the user menu at the bottom of the main sidebar and select another organization.

See Organizations for management details.

3. Connect a Messaging Channel

Open Integrations and connect one of the supported channels:

Keep the integration enabled after setup. Send a test message from an external account to confirm that the conversation reaches GChat.

4. Prepare the Workspace

Before inviting operators, configure the information they will use:

  1. Create tags for conversation stages or client segments.
  2. Add custom fields for business-specific client data.
  3. Create template categories.
  4. Add and enable message templates.

5. Create a Group and Staff Profiles

Groups connect team members to integrations.

  1. Open Settings -> Groups.
  2. Create a group and select its integration.
  3. Open Settings -> Staff.
  4. Create an operator or manager profile.
  5. Assign the profile to the group.

See Staff Profiles and Groups.

6. Process the First Conversation

Open Chats, select the new conversation, and review the client context. You can:

  • send a text reply or attachment;
  • apply a message template;
  • add tags and update custom fields;
  • transfer the chat to another staff member;
  • star the chat for quick access.

The complete workflow is covered in Inbox.

7. Add Automation When the Manual Flow Works

After the channel and team workflow are tested, create an automation space. Start with a small funnel, keep it in Draft, validate it with the checklist, and enable it only after testing.

Setup Checklist

  • A group is linked to that integration.
